I experience fatigue, tiredness. I take AlgaeCal Plus so I thought I was getting a sufficient amount of vitamin D. Am I?

Thank you for reaching out to us, and I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with ongoing fatigue and tiredness. ❤️

While the 1600 IU of Vitamin D in AlgaeCal Plus supports bone health, optimal Vitamin D levels are important for overall health—not just your bones. Some people may need additional Vitamin D to reach ideal levels.

That’s where D3 Complete comes in! Each softgel provides 1000 IU, with a recommended dose of 1–4 daily based on your needs. The best way to determine the right amount is through a blood test. You can learn more HERE.

Feel free to contact our Bone Health Consultants at 1-800-820-0184 (USA & Canada toll-free) or [email protected] for further support! 😊

I am taking AlgaeCal Plus which has vitamin D3. The dosage on this shows 800IU’s. In the video it cited 400IUs is a good amount. Why does AlgaeCal Plus have double the recommended dosage?
    Thanks…

  5. Yoori AlgaeCal

    September 29, 2026 , 7:17 pm

Thanks for reaching out, Leslie! I understand the confusion and would be happy to clarify. 🙂

The 400 IU mentioned in the video was the amount used as a comparison dose in the study discussed, rather than a recommendation that everyone should take exactly 400 IU of vitamin D3.

Vitamin D3 requirements vary greatly from person to person depending on blood levels.AlgaeCal Plus provides 1,600 IU per full daily 4 capsules, and the best way to determine whether you need more — and how much — is to have a blood test done. You can learn more HERE.

Hope this helps and feel free to give our Bone Health Consultants a call at 1-800-820-0184 (USA & Canada toll-free) for more information.

If I am already taking AlgaeCal Plus for my osteoporosis, do I still need to supplement with Vitamin D?

  20. Lynn

    September 27, 2026 , 10:42 am

    Question:
If taking AlgaeCal (basic, no strontium) which already has 1000 IU Vit D, is the balance distrusted by not having A, K, and E in it? If adding AlgaeCal D3 Complete, what is the limit (or correction) to properly balance the combinations?

  21. Yoori AlgaeCal

    September 29, 2026 , 7:53 pm

Thanks for your thoughtful question, Lynn! I’m happy to address this for you.

Rest assured, AlgaeCal is formulated specifically to support bone health. The combination of 1000IU of vitamin D and the bone-essential minerals in AlgaeCal has been clinically supported to increase bone density.

D3 Complete, on the other hand, was designed for those who are deficient in vitamin D, and need additional. It provides vitamin D3 together with vitamins A, E, and K, which have been carefully balanced to work synergistically together and provide additional health benefits.

Together, these fat-soluble vitamins support a variety of important functions, including building stronger bones, protecting your cells from oxidative damage, supporting a healthy heart and brain, boosting the immune system, promoting healthy skin and eyes, and more.

I hope this helps clarify the difference between the two products! Feel free to contact our Bone Health Consultants 7 days a week at 1-800-820-0184 (USA & Canada toll-free) or email [email protected] if you have any follow-up questions. 🙂

What is the recommended level of d3 that we should be getting!

  27. Yoori AlgaeCal

    October 5, 2026 , 9:10 pm

    Great question, Colleen!

There is ongoing debate among experts regarding what is truly optimal:

    – The Endocrine Society suggests to maintain levels above 30 ng/mL
    – Some researchers suggest maintaining levels between 40–60 ng/mL to achieve optimal overall health
    – Our Bone Health Expert, Lara Pizzorno, suggests maintaining levels between 60–80 ng/mL for bone health

Ultimately, your optimal target will depend on your current health status and personal goals. We always recommend getting your 25-hydroxy vitamin D levels tested and speaking with your doctor or healthcare provider to determine what level is best for you!

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Bone Health Consultants at 1-877-707-9226 (USA & Canada toll-free) or email [email protected]—we’re always happy to help!
