Slash your risk of hip fractures with these quick, at-home moves from Justina Bailey
There’s a small, fragile section of bone that connects the top of your thigh bone to your hip. It’s called the femoral neck. And it’s one of the most common places for a hip to break.
Why? Because it’s made up primarily of trabecular bone. A softer, spongy type of bone that looks a bit like a honeycomb. That structure helps absorb shock, but it also makes this area far more vulnerable to bone loss. Which is why it’s so important to keep it as strong and supported as possible.
To help you do that, we asked Justina, founder of Studio Fitness Victoria and a nationally certified Pilates, Barre, and Essentrics® instructor, to share a set of simple, science-informed routines that specifically support the muscles and mechanics around your femoral neck.
