Ingredients

  • 3 lb peaches peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar for the peaches
  • 2 tbsp potato starch
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar for crisp topping
  • 1/2 cup gluten free flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup pecans plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter chilled and grated

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an oven safe baking dish with butter.
  • In a large bowl, combine peaches, lemon juice, sugar, starch and vanilla, and mix thoroughly so that peaches are entirely coated. Pour evenly into an oven safe dish.
  • In a medium bowl, combine coconut sugar, flour, oats, chopped pecans, nutmeg and cinnamon until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Using a wooden spoon, incorporate butter until a small pea size crumble appears. Ensuring the butter stays chilled will provide a crispier crisp! Spread evenly over peaches.
  • Garnish with additional pecans and peaches if desired, and place in the oven to bake for 35-40 minutes until oat mixture turns a dark golden color. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  • Serve with a cold scoop of your favorite ice cream if desired!

Notes

Chef’s Tip: Want to know the secret behind the best peach crisp recipe? It’s all about the texture of your peaches. For this fruit crisp, you are looking for a peach that stands up! A nice firm peach that just begins to surrender to the pressure of your thumb will provide a substantial texture to your crisp — avoiding the possibility of an applesauce-like texture.

This looks really good. Lisa, what did you replace the sugar with? Date powder? I would need to eliminate the sugar as well. I’m wondering if using apples instead of peaches can be used as well.

I have not tried this recipe, but would like to know how I can adjust 2 items since I am not on a gluten free diet:
substitute unbleached flour for gluten free
substitute what kind of starch for potato starch….(cornstarch?)

This says it’s GF DF, yet recipe calls for “1/2 cup butter chilled and grated”. That means it is not DF.

DR, you can use Earth Balance as a dairy and soy free substitution for the butter. I have used the Earth Balance in all my baking recipes without any issues. You just need to keep it cold, when cold butter is needed.

I am confused when you say this is a dairy free recipe. The last ingredient if 1/2 cup of butter. Butter is a dairy product; therefore, this recipe is not dairy free or is there something I do not know.

  22. Shelby AlgaeCal

    August 28, 2023 , 9:44 am

Thank you for taking the time to point this out, Cynthia! I have shared your feedback with our team for consideration. In the meantime, you are absolutely correct that butter is a dairy product, as it’s typically made from milk. That said, if you follow a dairy-free diet, there are quite a few options for dairy-free or vegan butters at most grocery stores, and you’re more than welcome to use one of these options in this particular recipe. Hope this helps! 🙂

Do nectarines contain the same health benefits as peaches ?

  24. Manja AlgaeCal

    August 30, 2023 , 7:21 am

Noelle, it is our understanding that peaches and nectarines have similar nutrient profiles, with only a slight variation, so they provide almost the same health benefits.
