I wish I would’ve known about all this information years ago when I was diagnosed with Osteopenia! I tried bone meds then quit after getting pain in my legs! Then at 69 had full blown Osteoporosis but found AlgaeCal and after two years of taking it I reversed it back to Osteopenia! This product is such a Blessing!

Very informative too bad by the time we realize all the bad food, refined sugar etc… the damage is well on its way. You can stop and hopefully stop anymore bone loss and rebuild new bone. I often feel defeated I’m o nothing to help with this osteoporosis don’t trust the meds, I tried to take bone meds but got sick both times I tried. I’m using a cane to get around for fear of falling and breaking a hip.

My results have confounded my Endocrinologist who firmly believes in the medical prescriptions for bone health, which I have not taken since 2016! My bones are stronger and her repeated tests document this!

I had no idea just how much bone loss can be attributed to dietary lack of exercise. The fact that we can look younger on the outside than previous generations, but its the inside we should really be paying attention to. I have started taking this product. I keep reading your articles to be encouraged. I am celiac and have various problems along w/Osteopenia. We are on a ranch and 2 yrs ago stepped in a past tree hole then in a hole a horse dug in a stall….tore meniscus in 1/2; other torn cartilage and had lil bones cleaned out. Doc said he folded the meniscus in 1/2 and stitched.
Well maybe I am too real go and maybe his stitching did not hold as 2nd MRI should the tear still there a yr later. I am in excruciating pain. I am taking physio, your product and BioCell from Modere. A lady I know could not walk anymore and takes BioCell…which is mostly specialty fruits, resveratrol etc. So I am hoping I can be very active again. I have gained weight which I am concentrating on loosing. I already have a strict diet. I am trying to not use drugs but sometimes in tears w/the pain. I use heat, ice, Tylenol, Napoxen sometimes and sometimes Tramadol but do not like to as it s causes bowel problems and dehydrating. What else can use prescribe for pain? I have used Chinese Tiger Balm, Horse Liniment, hot moist heat…..If I can just lessen the pain. Sometimes I use the kinesiology taping for meniscus. It is ok few a few hrs.

    Patti,

We’re so sorry to hear of the continued troubles you’ve experienced. While you’ve been able to find relief through a number of supplements and medications, we’d recommend engaging in a root investigation to identify and treat the underlying issues which are inflicting this distress. Undoubtedly, the injuries and surgeries you’ve had play a role in the pain you’re contending with on a daily basis. Our article on fracture healing might prove to be a helpful resource.

Aside from discussing this topic further with your doctor, you may also benefit from meeting with a specialist such as a Certified Functional Medicine Doctor. You can search for these specialists in your area HERE. We recommend using the “Advanced Search Options” function found below the box where you enter your city. 204. Kirby Johnson

    Elizabeth,

Great question! To keep things simple, you can find our handy guide for how to take our supplements HERE. Many of our customers find it best to take Strontium Boost immediately before bed on an empty stomach, though the only requirement is to take it at least 2 hours apart from any source of calcium. To craft a customized supplementation schedule in order to take our supplements most effectively, you can always connect with one of our Bone Health Consultants by calling us at 1-800-820-0184 (USA & Canada toll-free) <3

  205. Chelsea Dugas

    June 14, 2022 , 11:05 am

Hi, Elizabeth! It all depends. If you are taking medications, we always recommend contacting our Bone Health Consultants at 1-800-820-0184 (USA & Canada, 7 days a week) or by email at [email protected] to verify if any separation times are needed. Otherwise, taking Strontium Boost before bedtime is optimal as our bone-remodelling process is more active at night. Also, Strontium slows the rate at which glutamate (an excitatory neurotransmitter) is released from our brain cells. This actually helps many of us get a better night’s sleep! Hope this information helps!

Very informative articles! Learned that bone remodeling is essential for a healthy skeleton; skeleton replaces itself and that 10% of the skeleton is removed and replaced each year. Made me aware that there are two types of Osteoporosis – 1) primary (caused by aging and/or lack of estrogen) and Sinile which is where there is a reduced amount of vitamin D; 2) secondary which is caused by medications that can cause bone loss, lowers calcium and/or medical challenges. Made me aware of the 8 dreaded foods that I need to pay attention to as far as my intake.

For legumes, does the soaking apply to canned as well as dry?

  234. Chelsea Dugas

    June 9, 2022 , 1:17 pm

    Hi, Susan!
Soaking your beans is only a necessary step when using dried legumes. Research has shown that canned beans already have lower phytate levels than dried, un-soaked beans, indicating that the canning process minimizes the presence of anti-nutrients such as phytic acid. Hope this information helps! 🙂

My DEXA scan showed I had the bones of a 30 year old at age 48, no bone loss at all, until my late 50’s when I was diagnosed with leukemia. The leukemia treatment, then hyperparathyroidism, then hyperthyroidism all 3 contributed to osteoporosis. I’m so thankful for AlgaeCal because it has caused proven (by DEXA scan) to give me “remarkable improvement”.
I didn’t know there were so many causes of bone loss.

I guess I have to work on lowering salt. That’s a hard one for me.

Soaking beans with baking soda is something I already do. I wonder if lemon juice or vinegar can be added to the baking soda.

Good article & I do most of these things except I do have a glass or two of wine every evening. But I’m 90, active, move well and feel I deserve it after a stressful day with a deaf, demented husband!

I was surprised about salt decreasing calcium, as I only use Himalayan sea salt that I grind myself and understood that had many minerals in it so no problem. I have avoided processed foods as on your list for 30 years . Also surprised about legumes & wondering about canned legumes, such as black beans & pinto beans.

    Holly,

Great work on all the home cooking you’re doing! If you’re short on time, organic canned beans can be a great alternative! Research has shown that canned beans have lower phytate levels than dried, un-soaked beans, indicating that the canning process minimizes the presence of anti-nutrients such as phytic acid 🙂 Hope this information helps!

Very interesting. I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been treated for many years with biologics. Last year I fell and broke my hip. After surgery and recoup, I had a DEXA scan done and was diagnosed with osteoporosis -3. My doctor wanted to put me on biophospenates and I said no. Instead, I ordered the AlgaeCalPlus and StrontiumBoost packs and have been taking them for the last 6 months. I hope to get a DEXA scan ordered, my next Dr. visit, to see it I have gained any bone mass. I enjoyed the scientific description of osteoporosis and how bone modeling works.
