The Vanishing Hormone That’s Destroying Your Bones—Fix It Before It’s Too Late

Updated: March 14, 2025

Amy Killen

Your bones are under attack—and Dr. Amy Killen reveals why fixing this one hormone could change everything.

You’ve heard about calcium. You know vitamin D is important. But did you know that estrogen is just as critical for your bones?

And yet, most doctors never warn you about this. They wait until the damage is done—until your bones are weak, your fracture risk is high, and the only “solution” they offer comes with a laundry list of side effects.

Dr. Amy Killen believes that’s unacceptable.

We sat down with Dr. Killen—a pioneer in longevity and regenerative medicine—to uncover the shocking truth about hormones and bone health.

And trust us—you’ll be surprised by what she has to say.

Here’s what to look out for in this exclusive interview…

  • The real age when women actually start losing bone mass—and why waiting until menopause to take action is a HUGE mistake.
  • The bone-destroying mistake most women don’t even know they’re making… until it’s too late.
  • Think osteoporosis only happens after menopause? Think again. Dr. Killen explains why bone loss starts decades earlier—and how to stop it before you’re in trouble.
  • Doctors are STILL getting this wrong about hormone replacement therapy. And if you believe them, your bones will suffer for it.

By the time most women get their first bone scan… it’s already too late. Dr. Killen reveals why current guidelines are failing you—and what to do instead.

The article talks about this doctor promoting estrogen as an important hormone for bone health. Then she advertises that she’s taking algae cal which to my knowledge has no estrogen. Please explain! What’s her point?

Thank you for reaching out with your question, Marlaine! I understand how that might seem confusing, and would be happy to clarify this for you. While AlgaeCal does not contain estrogen, it supports bone health through a combination of plant-based calcium, magnesium, and other key nutrients.

The reason it’s being recommended alongside hormone therapy is because bone health is influenced by many factors, including hormones like estrogen. AlgaeCal helps provide the nutrients needed for bone strength and density, which is why it may be suggested alongside hormone therapy as part of a comprehensive approach to bone health.

I hope this helps clarify things! Please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-820-0184 (USA & Canada, toll-free) or email [email protected] with any follow-up questions! 🙂

    Loved this!
I have been taking AlgaeCal for two years now and had some great news today!
After raising three children and working full-time plus as a “career woman” – my ability to prioritize my health was challenged for sure.
I would walk or run and do hand weights and eventually incorporated yoga into my life to address stress.
Two years ago where I was alarmed to learn my osteopenia tipped into osteoporosis in my left hip. I did not want to take pharmaceuticals. My doctor recommended AlgaeCal.
I continued my exercise routine and started taking AlgaeCal every day – and my bone scan – two years later – showed very positive results.
My T-scores approved across the board!
    I am so grateful.
I tell all my friends and family about AlgaeCal.

I moved from osteoporosis (T-score on Dexa Scan -2.5) to osteopenia (T-score on Dexa scan -1.6) & fully expect to have a normal Dexa at next check. I’ve take both Algae Plus & Strontium for 2 yrs.

I was told women over 60 should not start HRT. I recently read that women who start HRT over 60 have a higher rate of getting alzheimer’s in their 70’s. My mom and grandmother both had it and its one of my biggest fears.
