Vicki - Oregon

Hello, my name is Vicki. I live in Oregon and I have been on a bone density loss journey since 2010 when I was first told that my DEXA scores were low and that I needed to go on some recommended medication.

I decided not to go on that medication but instead to do some alternative calcium supplements

that turned out to be the kind of supplements that are made of oyster shell and cow bone that's very hard for the body to digest. So when I heard about AlgaeCal on Instagram, I decided to give it a try and I've had very good luck.

So I want to share my last DEXA score experience.

I went in and I said, "I'm so excited to get these scores!" And the technician said, "Oh, this is not the usual attitude that people come in with. Why may I ask, are you excited about your scores?" I said, "Because I think they're going to really improve."

And she just kind of said, "Oh great, we'll see, we'll see." Now you do know that you don't get your scores today, that they have to be read by the doctor and then they have to be sent to your doctor. I said, "Okay, okay." So I had the scan done and she was just looking at my numbers and she was just really quiet for a while.

And then she said, "May I ask what interventions you've been doing?" And I thought, "Well, this is good news." So I said, "Yeah, I've been doing some weight resistance exercises and I've been taking AlgaeCal, which is a source of calcium that is easier on the system because it's vegetarian and there's absolutely no side effects." And she said, "AlgaeCal, how do you spell that now?" And so she wrote it down on a little piece of paper. And so I said, "Yeah, algae, just like algae in the ocean."

And so we chatted for a minute and I said, "Oh gosh, I'm really excited to get my scores." And she said, "Well, you know, I suppose if I just kind of look over this way, I suppose you could just kind of look over my shoulder and maybe just kind of look at the screen a little bit."

So I did and I said, "Oh, I've got to like it those numbers." So anyway, I got the official scores a couple of days later.

And yes, I had two years prior to this, I had made an 8% statistically significant increase in my spine score. So I thought two years later, I wonder if I'll continue to make good progress like that. I did.

This time, after two more years, I had a spine T score increase by 7.3%. And this is the best score I've had in 14 years.

Well since 2010.

And my left hip increased by 8.4%. And this is the best score I've had in 12 years.

So I was thrilled. At the bottom of my DEXA scores in capital letters, it reads, "Changes greater than or equal to 5% are generally considered significant."

So I was thrilled. My doctor was thrilled. But for some reason, the left femoral neck score remained the same.

So I called AlgaeCal. I talked to the bone specialist, Susan, and she sent me some additional exercises.

And she asked, interestingly enough, if I had one leg longer than the other. And I said, "Actually, yes, I do."

And Susan said that this causes more resistance to the right hip than to the left as my body compensates. So that left femoral will need a little more resistance work targeted to it. And so that's what I've started doing. So I just wanted to share this story. For some of you who may be looking at scores that continue to decline as you age, and who are interested in doing some alternatives that are healthy and safe and absolutely effective, I encourage you to try AlgaeCal.

It has been a game changer for me. And I'm so grateful that I found it. Thank you.
