Hi, I’m Dr. Robert Silverman, a practicing doctor of chiropractic in New York and Amazon best-selling author of Inside-Out Health: A Revolutionary Approach to Your Body.
For the last 22 years I’ve been helping people with their bone health through my chiropractic practice; people come to me specifically for help with bone injuries and bone health.
In over two decades of practice, the most important discoveries I’ve made are…
Bone health is a critical element of your overall health, and good nutrition is the key to bone health.
You see, in chiropractic school they teach you all about the human body—and you can do some amazing things with that knowledge. But I’ve always had an inquisitive mind and wanted to know more about treating the body from the inside-out. I realized that the missing link is nutrition.
That’s why nutrition plays such a big role in my chiropractic practice.
I’ll share some eye-opening insights with you about the link between nutrition and bone health in a moment, but first I’ll answer the question people love to ask, which is…
“Why did you become a doctor of chiropractic?”
When this question comes up I always have to take a step back and hold the emotion in, because the answer reminds me of my very difficult, very personal health journey.
I suffer from a condition called congenital torticollis, which means I was born with my neck positioned at a discernible angle due to a short neck muscle.
This condition caused me severe and constant back and neck pain that made it hard to walk and perform other everyday physical activities that most people take for granted.
Unfortunately, the traditional medical model had nothing that could help me.
At age 21, the doctors had tried almost everything they could think of to alleviate the pain, but nothing had worked. Surgery seemed like the only remaining option, and the doctor gave me no guarantee that the surgery would work either.
But at the end of the conversation, the doctor said something that changed everything for me. He said…
“Why don’t you try chiropractic first? Because all I can guarantee you is a scar, and I don’t know if the surgery will solve the problem.”
So with my last bit of hope, I went to a chiropractor…
And that visit changed the course of my life.
As I laid down on the chiropractic table and the doctor treated me and talked to me, I felt 21 years of chronic pain start to lift away. When I got off the table I could walk without pain for the first time in my life!
I was hooked, line and sinker.
With a sense of excitement and purpose I’d never felt before, I said to myself…
“This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I want to help people like this doctor helped me.”
At that time I was in college studying to be an accountant. After my chiropractic epiphany, my parents asked that I finish my degree, so I did. I took the sacred job at IBM, worked one morning, left at lunchtime to enroll in pre-chiropractic classes, and never looked back.
Fast forward a few years , and there I was a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic.
What’s interesting about chiropractic is that a chiropractor is always someone who’s been touched by somebody else. I can’t say that a brain surgeon became a surgeon because he had life-changing surgery, but I can tell you that a chiropractor becomes a chiropractor because he’s been helped by one. And I believe in taking that mantra forward.
That’s why my goal has always been to help somebody else like I was helped. Treat every patient like you would with your own mother, but something was missing…
What was the missing piece? Nutrition.
As it turns out, nutrition is everything. It’s key to all parts of health—including bone health. So, I started incorporating nutrition into my practice, and the results I saw were stellar.
Patients’ bones that had previously been healing very slowly suddenly started healing much faster. And in what seemed like no time at all, I was seeing patients who had put their active lifestyles on hold due to fear of fracture finally find the confidence to start being active again.
The transformations in my patients’ physical health and in their emotional health were incredible, and it was very fulfilling for me to see!
So, why does nutrition matter so much when it comes to bone health?
Because a large portion of our bones are made up of minerals, and those minerals deplete as we age. For our bones to be healthy and strong, we have to replace those missing minerals.
And in my practice, I’ve found that there’s no better way for people to get all the minerals their bones need than to eat lots of healthy, nutrient-dense foods and take a daily complete bone-building supplement.
The supplement I recommend to my patients is AlgaeCal Plus.
Why AlgaeCal Plus?
There are many reasons, actually.
One reason is because it’s a calcium supplement that contains all 13 essential bone-building minerals, plus 3 additional vitamins to help those minerals do their work.
The fact is, most calcium supplements only contain one mineral: calcium. But AlgaeCal Plus, with its 16 minerals and vitamins, is a complete bone-building supplement that contains everything our bones need to grow strong.
AlgaeCal Plus is a plant-based calcium
which is so much easier for your body to digest and absorb than all those rock-based calcium supplements.
And as a healthcare professional, I love that there’s research and clinical studies behind the supplement. The studies are unique, and they’ve been shown through DEXA bone scans to actually increase bone mineral density.
From a scientific and medical standpoint, the AlgaeCal Plus formulation is outstanding. When it comes to calcium supplements, there’s simply no comparison.
In my chiropractic practice, I see AlgaeCal Plus strengthening my patients’ bones every day…
Which lets them put the fear of bone fractures behind them and live a healthy, active, confident life.
